These are the exact look and colour that I'd been searching for in a pair of boots. With the beautiful brown contrast and the unexpected navy colour. I also like how the sole is not overbearingly thick. I can get them bespoke, but I do not want to pay an arm and a leg or sell my kidney to own a pair.

Can you just imagine my excitement when I found out about this product?

A lamp that uses a gun as a trigger to switch it on and off. It tilts back as you shoot the lamp when it turns off. Designed simply that both genders will not disagree on. I wonder if it makes a sound when you shoot the lamp, though doesn't matter because I'd gladly make PEWPEW sounds myself.

A Reflection

To sit right on these rocks, I promised myself to be at this exact spot on the last Sunday of the following year after it happened and reflect on the progress I have made, may it be something positive or the opposite after a period of three hundred and sixty five days.

Being alone and unoccupied felt strange and difficult as it was something new in the beginning. Days passed that I would be unoccupied and friends ask if I were alright. I was and still am, though I remember drinking constantly but not excessively every night. I drank for about four months straight possibly missing about seven days in between up to the point where I got the "wake up call", a night where my drink was possibly drugged by a random idiot and my body pretty much could not take it. I made it home but it was a struggle. Never again.

I asked her at the time when the last moment was that she was completely happy when we were together and she said it was when we went for a little walk and sat down by those rocks as we watch the sunset. So then I visited the spot and see I what kind of emotion it would trigger. I tend to mentally dive right into the issues I face and try to come up with a logical solution instead of avoiding them and have the same problem get to me in my most unexpected, vulnerable state.

A whole year has gone and I have already checked off quite a few things that were on my bucket list and I'm just glad things are doing well. I gave myself just a year to analyze what it is that I need and now that the year is over, there are no other excuse that I can give myself to slack.

The interesting thing is, it has been a while and we haven't cross paths.

I wonder how that would end up like.

Will one acknowledge the other or are the two of us just back to being strangers?

I was debating a couple of days ago whether to get them or not but I could not come up with a decision until now. After a little bit of ~~google-in'~~ research, I found out that only 48 pairs of each style were made which is why my desire for a pair has gone even greater. I'm starting to think that the ones that I like are the either the collaboration pieces or the limited editions.

You might be thinking, "those are a couple of seasons ago..", well I say, "screw you." These boots are really nice.

To be honest with, what made me really like them was my amazing lacing ability.

Yes, they are completely warm and comfortable but I promised myself that I will never sport these boots outside of the four walls that I live in. I suppose it's just unacceptable for a man of my age and they're just plain awkward to be stared at and feel judged by every single set of eyes around you. It is quite idiotic that people do that but I cannot blame them. On the other hand, they do not give any support to a person's feet that walking in them for a couple of hours will most likely strain your ankles. I do not know how others do it but I not the one to find out. Heck, I can't even confidently wear them at home when there are visitors in the house.

The only reason I have a pair is to keep my feet warm since I live in a basement. That's all.

~~oh, and I got them for just $35!~~

Though it is possible for myself to wear the boots outside and be able to pull 'em off, I do not think it's wise to be spotted in the streets of downtown Vancouver where you will pass by more than a dozen women wearing the same exact footwear as yourself. I may as well wear a pair of Lululemon yoga pants while I'm at it.`

The temperature continues to drop and boy, am I ecstatic?

Sure, I may be the only person who looks forward to a bitterly cold, dark winter and a snowstorm, but how else will you get the chance to wear a nice goose down parka or a thick hand-knitted marled sweater if it's not cold? You know how annoying it is to layer up and all of a sudden you're sweating bullets like a hooker in church taking a crowded transit on a weekday morning with no elbow room just to remove a scarf.

So then while we haven't reach a minus degree temperature, it is cold enough to play with the different textures of warm and cozy winter fabrics. There's nothing more comfortable than a plaid shirt, cowl-collared cable knit sweater and a fair isle scarf with a nice wool hat on a cold winter's day.

Yesterday seemed to feel like the first day of winter here in Vancouver. I actually felt the cold and it finally felt necessary to set cotton aside and migrate to wool.

My take on a smart, modern, urban working man.

-Or at least those are the words that were in my head as I put the outfit together.

This is what I wore yesterday.

The hat is "The Danko" by 18Waits. yes, I finally got it! in 2 colours. I couldn't resist.

The tweed jacket is one of my good finds at a thrift store. It has a two-way heavy duty zipper with two big patch pockets on the front, a leather collar, and brown braided wooden buttons.

I always look at the materials of a garment and I'd get inspired as to what other pieces I can combine with it. The clothes speak to me. yes they do. listen to them and they'll show you the way. "cuckoo!"

This is little guy is my first painting. I got it at the One Of A Kind event about a month ago. It's probably the fact that I "...ALWAYS WANTED GLASSES" even though I have perfect eyesight. (how ungrateful am I?) Yes, yes, I had a phase where I wore fake ones just to obtain "the look". I still remember how I have to take them off after a while because my eyes would turn really red and feel like they're burning. (how stupid.)

The painting is by Andrea Armstrong, whose work is character-driven and is just plain awesome.

Maybe I should ask her to do a portrait of me.

As my new obsession for hats continues, another one caught my attention.

It just so happens that this specific one comes in mossy green.

One way or another, whether you care or not, you'll hear about the new collaboration at H&M with Versace from hashtags such as "occupy" to tweets like "I don't give a f*** about the collection."

I woke up a little past 7 this morning and headed downtown to check the scene not even expecting that I'd get a hold of a single piece I am interested in. The only items I was curious to see were the t-shirts and scarves. Luckily, I ended up finding both the scarves and shirts!

The funny thing is, there was a bunch of black t-shirts left and somebody just forgot to bring them out. ha! The lucky, patient me got a hold of both medium AND large. Then there was a couple who was speaking another language with this excited yet disappointed look that I had two on my hand and I could tell that they were looking for the same one. I felt bad and told them there was another one hiding in between the trousers. They grabbed it right away and said, "Sank you!" (thank you in English) LOL.

looks like I have done my good deed of the year.

Being specific on the shape of the footwear I choose, oftentimes I feel as though I'm searching for something that is non-existent. The good thing about this is that it helps differentiate my personal style from the world out there. There is nothing worse than going somewhere and passing by a few people wearing the same thing as you are. (you know what I'm talking about)

In this case, I found a pair of boots that fit my standards and decided to customize them a little bit.

I took these Floyd boots to my cobbler, Hugo and got them resoled with white Vibram soles. (I'll tell you about him later on)

Guess what I just crossed off my bucket list?! a hat!

I never thought this day would happen freakin' happen! To finally wear a hat without looking like a fool.

I've never own a hat nor a baseball cap my whole darn life and I blame it on the size of my head. (they're massive!)

I remember the stories about Woodwards from my colleagues at the other job oh how it used to be "the high-end retail store", with the elevator attendants and a hat shop where you can get your hat feathers replaced. (oh, how I dream of those good 'ol days).

I came across a brand of shoes that I haven't heard of.

I find that the design is clean and simple, though there is something quite unusual about it. As simple as they are, there's a distinct design in the footwear that one may call a signature.

The first thing we did was visit the Empire State Building which is not that far from the hotel we stayed at. Good thing we had the "CityPass", which allowed us to cut through some lines and were given the audio tour of the city from the top of the building. It gave us a good idea of where everything is.

And then there was the Library...

man, was it huge!

Though we did not get to explore the whole building, I was impressed on how beautiful it was.

And the smell of old books? oh! A book-lover would have an orgasm. ahihihihi..!

We did walk for hours and we came across the Cathedral so we stopped by for a little prayer.

I felt a little rude snapping pictures so I tried to limit myself by taking only a few.

There was also a couple getting married and the church closed early because of Irene.

We noticed the windows are all boarded up and there were signs everywhere saying stores will be closed for the weekend. Boo!

But then we took advantage of the rest of the night and went to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.

We thought it'd be neat to see the city at night with all the lights this time.

All precautionary measures are being executed for everyone's safety.

There were signs and notices everywhere we went since yesterday to make sure everyone is informed in advance. Heck, all we did was watch the news on TV. There was even a note under our door to inform us regarding any information the hotel had and directions as to whom and where we are to go in case of any emergency. They even do PA announcements.

I feel for the staff of this diner, the staff were working overtime and I believe they are staying in the hotel and (some) customers are being very inconsiderate by demanding and complaining about the service. C'mon people, they've been working for more than 12 hours and they are understaff.

Mind you, they may possibly be the only place that is open.

Our food did take a very long time, but we tried to understand and we waited and gave it some patience.

I finally convinced Pearl to do something on her birthday this time. Normally, she'd prefer to have the day all to herself to relax. I told her I'll set something up that is to her liking.

And since she has been obsessing over tea, I thought there'd be no better way for her to enjoy her day than a high tea at the Fairmont Vancouver!

(the scones were to die for!!!)

and we ended up biking for more than two and half hours!

our asses were sore but we had a lot of fun.

I got her a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs heels but she replaced it with slippers to go biking. sigh.

They're apparently her first "name brand" shoes. :)

This woman can rock a garbage bag.

Saturday Finds: Lark Shop

After the market, I went to visit one of my favourite stores, the Lark Shop (check 'em out) on Main street and Hunter (she has her own blog!), but the sexy beast wasn't working. boo!

I also met one of the lighthearted people who's serious for clothes, Veronica.

We ended up chatting a bit as I look around the boutique. One thing we both have in common... is the love for seriously good TACOS!! I mentioned to her how goooood the TacoFino tacos are (drooling...) and all thanks to me, Veronica now wants to try 'em. Hopefully she is working tomorrow because I might just get some and make a personal delivery. (I am awesome like that)

I saw the Burkman Bros. bracelets (famously worn by Kanye at Coachella) on their counter as I purchase the Barbour wax. yep. ended up with one. Thanks again, Veronica. (!!!!)

Saturday Finds: Sterling Silver Rings at the Vancouver Flea Market

I had an unbelievably productive Saturday.

First, I went to Oakridge Centre to enjoy me some iced-tea by David's Tea and then I headed straight to the Vancouver Flea Market to dig for treasures.

And to my surprise, the place looks like it's undergoing some sort of renovation and organization.

It is cleaner, but I don't quite like the way it is right now. Digging through piles of junk to find hidden treasures feels much more rewarding. And the fact that about 70% of the vendors sells knock-offs pisses me off. Chinatown is just a couple of blocks away and I'll head there if I needed those, thank you.

Then again, I do not want to take some kind of bugs with me home.

The lady that we use to go to has relocated with a much bigger table on the other end of the market and it seems like what she carries are starting to look like the typicals.

I went around the market about three times and ended up staring at the same table where a guy sells really old photographs, buttons and jewellery! bingo.

Spent about an hour there and found me some sterling silver rings!

note: I used the ATM machine to withdraw $80 and it only dispensed $60

the one hour challenge

There was about an hour and a half before the mall closes when my mother arrived from work and had asked me to find her something to wear for a lunch they are attending.

The catch.

a limited budget and a very limited time.

no dresses, no skirts, and a comfortable flat to mid-heel shoes.

It actually took us just about forty minutes to find the outfit while being picky.

We found a striped shirt and a trench coat from GAP, and the pants are from ZARA.

Oh, yeah.. we found something for my dad as well. (we found those first)

a cotton/linen sweater and a pair of pants from Club Monaco.

That gave us 20 mins. to shop for two pairs of sandals, 15 minutes to run to StoneRidge and buy my sister's sandals and 5 minutes for mom to stop by the Superstore.

She did try them all ya'know...

two pairs of pants, two shirts, the trench and about 8 different shoes!!!

the only thing that wasn't on sale was the Zara pants.

that... is shopping in style ala Label Deficiency!

I still remember this Asian lady wearing some sort of black cotton slip on shoes that I really liked, but of course she'd probably think I'm a weirdo if i were to approach her and ask for what brand they are. (maybe I should post it on Craigslist's missed connection.)

enough of that. These shoes by TOMS started showing up at the Aldo Sale Shop and I just had to get 'em. My first choice was the green plaid but the size was not available so I waited it out a bit, and not everyone was fond of the other color but me so i got them. I do know that the brighter colour would look better as soon as it gets really hot and bright out. And as for the plain beige? might as well. lol.

If I were you, I'd get a basic colour so they can be your basic go to shoes that you can just slip on this summer.

Make it a guy's version of those foldable flats that women always have in their bag.

I made these on 2009 thinking about what I was "release" for the next spring/summer season. :)

I NEED NEW ONES.

I made a couple of garments as well but I was short of one to make it in school. I'll most likely other take some night courses to be able to make new ones.

A cozy little diner all hipstered up on Main street that's open 24 hours for you hungry buggers who pull an all-nighter.

The service was great but I find the food to be average, ranging from $10 or less.

There's quite a selection of food (which is a good thing) but can leave the indecisive confused.

We ordered the pulled-pork sandwich, french toast, poutine and milkshake.

Preparation was A+ but I'm afraid the taste was a disappointment. The gravy was burnt and the potatoes tasted like they were literally just "mashed" and served.

...though I'd come back because of the service (and the hours) and give it a second chance.
